AMIA 2026 Annual Symposium
Booth #509 • November 7-11 • Dallas, Texas
The American Medical Informatics Association will host its 2026 Annual Symposium in Dallas, Texas.
Learning health systems depend on the ability to transform clinical encounters into actionable knowledge and continuously apply that knowledge to improve care. Electronic health records, clinical decision support tools, patient-generated data, and digital health technologies are critical components of this cycle, enabling health care organizations to learn, adapt, and improve in real time. This vision is at the heart of the 2026 AMIA Annual Symposium’s theme, Harnessing Informatics to Accelerate Learning Health Systems.
AMIA brings together researchers, clinicians, informaticians, health system leaders, and technology developers who are shaping the future of health care. By sharing evidence from real-world implementation and evaluation efforts, NORC presenters will contribute practical insights to accelerate data-driven, patient-centered learning health systems and, ultimately, improve patient care and outcomes.
At the 2026 AMIA Annual Symposium, NORC will showcase research examining how informatics can strengthen patient-centered care, improve health care delivery, and maximize the value of health data. NORC’s featured presentation, Foundational Concepts for Designing, Implementing, and Measuring Patient-Facing Digital Health Tools, is an interactive workshop that explores participatory co-design methods and practical lessons for implementing patient-centered digital health tools, such as wearables and AI-supported applications. Attendees will gain evidence-based strategies to advance health solutions that support patients and enable health systems to continue to learn over time.
NORC will also present two poster sessions that will examine the data and quality improvement programs that lay the foundation for effective learning health systems. Health Data’s Untapped Potential traces how electronic health record (EHR) infrastructure has advanced since the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act and what barriers remain to using EHR data for research. Leveraging Health IT for Antibiotic Stewardship in Telemedicine draws on a nationwide quality improvement program to show how three health IT-enabled approaches—clinical decision support, data analytics, and patient communication tools—can help telemedicine practices measure their antibiotic prescribing practices and make improvements.
