2026 Veterans in Society Conference  • NORC Booth  • March 26-28  • Chicago, IL

We're glad to connect with attendees at ViS 2026, which is hosted by the Veterans Studies Association, a community dedicated to understanding and improving the lives of former service members.

Many scholars, practitioners, and Veteran-serving organizations are seeking reliable data that reflect the full diversity of the Veteran population. NORC and RAND’s Veterans Insight Panel (VIP) was created to support that need by providing the most comprehensive, nationally representative source of Veteran data across branches, eras, and demographic groups.

Visit us at the NORC booth to find out more about how VIP can strengthen your next study.

Meeting the Field’s Need for Inclusive, Accurate Veterans Data

Much of today’s Veterans research relies heavily on VA-enrolled Veterans, who account for only about half of all former service members. That leaves significant gaps in understanding the experiences of younger Veterans, rural Veterans, women Veterans, and those who do not regularly engage with VA services. Researchers and advocates need data that can illuminate those overlooked perspectives. The Veterans Insight Panel fills this gap through scientific sampling and extensive recruitment methods designed to reach Veterans subgroups that are underrepresented in traditional research.

A Resource for Those Working to Improve Veterans’ Lives

Whether the goal is to assess program impact, identify unmet needs, evaluate new interventions, or bring Veterans’ voices into policy discussions, VIP offers a foundation of rigorous, representative evidence. Its design supports the field’s need for data that can guide decisions, shape services, and elevate the perspectives of Veterans from all walks of life. For researchers, policymakers, and Veteran-serving organizations, the panel provides a pathway to insights that can strengthen programs, inform community partnerships, and drive positive change.
