Jennifer Benz Named Public Affairs & Media Research SVP, Director of AP-NORC Center

CHICAGO, November 12, 2025 — NORC at the University of Chicago is pleased to announce that Jennifer Benz has been named senior vice president of Public Affairs & Media Research (PAMR) and director of The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Benz was previously serving as vice president, overseeing NORC’s public opinion research portfolio and our media partnerships, including with The Associated Press, the Wall Street Journal, and the American Press Institute.

In the dual role, Benz will lead PAMR’s high-quality domestic and international research to measure opinions and behaviors for clients including the nation’s top media, consulting, policymaking, and philanthropic organizations. Continuing her work with AP-NORC, she will lead the Center into its next chapter generating evidence-based insights that inform public policy debates and contribute to the informed electorate every democracy needs to function properly.

Benz first joined NORC in 2003 as a research assistant in the health research department, focusing on issues with access to primary care and racial and ethnic variations in health outcomes. Since then, she has held several roles between PAMR and AP-NORC. She holds a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is an active member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research and serves on the National Academies of Science Standing Committee on Advancing Science Communication.
