Matthew Linick
Matthew Linick is an accomplished education researcher with deep expertise in accountability systems, data-driven evaluation, and the use of evidence to support educational improvement in schools and districts across the country.
Matthew has over a decade of experience leading applied research and evaluation projects for a range of public education stakeholders, including school districts, state education agencies, and national organizations. His work centers on helping educational systems build transparent and effective data systems, interpret results, and implement strategies that improve outcomes for all students. Prior to joining NORC, Matthew contributed to significant research and policy initiatives at McREL International as the chief research and evaluation officer and to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District as the executive director of research and evaluation.
At NORC, Matthew advances projects that support both federal and state education priorities, with a particular focus on using evidence to guide local decision-making. He is skilled in working with a range of partner agencies to identify gaps in opportunity and success among students, evaluate the effects of interventions, and build capacity for ongoing measurement and improvement. His approach emphasizes actionable findings tailored to the context and needs of each partner—from state education departments to local districts and schools.
Matthew has published work on education policy, programs, and outcomes, appearing in peer-reviewed journals and policy reports. He regularly presents at national conferences and has contributed to the development of tools and resources designed to translate research into actionable guidance for practitioners and policymakers.
