Erin D’Amelio

Senior Research Scientist
Erin provides data-driven, context-informed support to Pacific-based educational systems.

Erin is a senior research analyst with expertise in literacy development, instructional improvement, and locally informed evaluation strategies across diverse education systems. She supports NORC’s Education & Child Development department by contributing to research and evaluation projects that strengthen foundational learning and support effective teaching practices, particularly in small and rural school systems in the Pacific region.

Erin brings strong skills in mixed methods research, partner engagement, and program evaluation, with an approach grounded in knowledge brokering to drive policy and practice decisions. Her work supports education agencies in developing strategies that are both evidence-based and contextually relevant. Her recent contributions include a study conducted through the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Pacific, where she examined factors associated with grade 3 reading proficiency in the Northern Mariana Islands. She has also presented at national and local conferences on literacy practices within federal grants and instructional models that align with local teaching practices and community values.

Before joining NORC, Erin worked at McREL International, where she led and supported REL Pacific research and technical assistance projects on literacy instruction, teacher development, and school improvement. She has contributed to the development of Hawaii’s state literacy plan, and her writing has appeared in federal research blogs and professional evaluation forums, including the Institute of Education Sciences and the American Evaluation Association. Erin’s work reflects a commitment to strengthening student achievement through practical, data-informed approaches that respect local priorities and build educator capacity.
