Evaluation of i-Ready Personalized Instruction Study

For Participants
Understanding the impact of i-Ready Personalized Instruction on student learning and classroom practice.

Welcome to the Evaluation of i-Ready Personalized Instruction Study! NORC at the University of Chicago is studying how a classroom tool called Personalized Instruction (PI) is being used in schools, and whether it helps students learn better in reading and math. We’re looking at how teachers and students use PI, what their experiences are like, and how students are performing based on outcomes like state test scores. As an independent research organization, NORC keeps all data secure and private, so districts, teachers, and families can trust that the results are accurate and unbiased.

This study is sponsored by Curriculum Associates.

FAQ

We want to find out how a classroom tool called i-Ready Personalized Instruction (PI) is being used in schools, and whether it helps students do better in reading and math. We’re looking at how the tool is actually being used day-to-day, what teachers and students think of it, and how students perform on state tests.

NORC at the University of Chicago is leading this study. NORC is an objective, nonpartisan, independent research organization, meaning we lead all decisions about how the study is designed, how the data is analyzed, and what the results mean. Curriculum Associates (the company that makes PI) may look over reports to check for accuracy and make sure no private information is shared, but they do not influence the findings.

Your experience helps us understand what’s really happening in classrooms when this tool is used. Depending on your role, this might mean answering a short survey, taking part in a brief interview, or sharing basic information about how the tool is being used. We’ve designed everything to take as little time as possible and to fit around school schedules.

Yes. We take privacy seriously. Only a small team of approved NORC staff can see any information that could identify a specific student, and we remove identifying details whenever possible. Curriculum Associates will never receive information that could identify individual students. When we share results, we only show group-level findings—never anything that could reveal a specific person—and we follow all required privacy laws and agreements.

It depends on what we’re asking you to do. For example, a short survey or a quick interview. We’ve built the study so that it takes up as little of your time as possible and works around your school’s schedule.

Districts, schools, and teachers will receive a variety of incentives based on different aspects of their participation. We recognize that participation requires valuable time and effort, and we are committed to acknowledging those contributions in meaningful ways. Specific information about available incentives and eligibility will be provided in study communications and invitations to participate.
