About the Survey
The California Health Insurance Survey seeks to understand how Californians are experiencing changes in their health insurance and how they are navigating this process.
Who is conducting the survey?
NORC at the University of Chicago (NORC) on behalf of Covered California, the state’s health benefit exchange, is conducting a monthly survey to better understand Californian’s experiences with their health insurance.
What information does the survey collect?
This survey supports Covered California’s mission to help more Californians get health coverage. The questions asked in the survey are designed to help Covered California identify ways to improve how they are communicating with and reaching out to Californians about enrolling in Covered California.
Participation
If you were contacted about participating in this survey, please click on the link below to go to the survey log-in page. Please have your unique PIN available. You should have received your PIN by mail or email.

This study is being sponsored by Covered California, the state’s health benefit exchange.
Covered California is a state agency that works with Medi-Cal to help Californians access affordable health care. Covered California is the only place to get federal financial help to buy a brand-name health plan if you do not have coverage through a job or another program like Medi-Cal or Medicare.
This survey supports Covered California’s mission to help more Californians get health coverage. The questions asked in the survey are designed to help Covered California identify ways to improve the health insurance auto-enrollment program.
You were selected from a pool of California residents recently went through the Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid program) renewal process. NORC selected participants to try to have a representative sample of people with this experience.
No. Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. Also, if you choose to participate, you may choose not to answer any question that you do not wish to answer and you can end your participation at any time.
This survey should be completed only by the person to whom it was addressed.
Your answers will be combined with answers from other respondents and then analyzed. Survey results are put into summary reports on general patterns and trends across groups of respondents.
Only a few people who work on the survey will ever see any information that could identify you and this information is protected by laws and procedures that NORC and Covered California follow strictly.
No. Your information is kept private and confidential as required by federal and California law. Your answers are only used for research needed to help Covered California enroll consumers into healthcare coverage.
