Nina Crowley

Research Scientist
Nina provides applied research and technical assistance with a focus on maternal health and the wellness of tribal communities.

Nina is an enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation with over a decade of experience conducting applied research, evaluation, and technical assistance. Her mixed-methods research focuses on maternal health and the health and wellness of tribal communities. Her recent work includes projects for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the CDC Foundation, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the Administration for Child and Families (ACF). Nina manages the Indigenous Evaluation Capacity Building and Recipient Coordination & Partnership Support Cooperative Agreement for the CDC. She also provides evaluation technical assistance to states and national partners for the Maternal Health Portfolio Evaluation and Capacity Building project, which is a five-year evaluation of HRSA-funded maternal health initiatives.

Nina leads the qualitative component of the Hear Her Campaign Evaluation, which is a CDC Foundation-funded evaluation of a campaign to raise awareness of urgent maternal warning signs among pregnant and postpartum people. Nina has also worked with the National Council of Urban Indian Health to support their annual policy analysis for the CMS Office of Minority Health. 

Prior to joining NORC, Nina worked as a social service provider for the Indian Health Service (IHS), and as a performance analyst at Children’s Aid, where she worked collaboratively with early childhood, community school, and medical and behavioral health community-based programs to implement all phases of continuous quality improvement.
