Syed leads technical teams to implement large-scale project solutions that achieve strategic goals.

Syed is a senior IT project manager who excels at cross-functional collaboration and aligning project goals with client priorities. He leads systems development and platform configuration, milestone and deliverable scheduling, cost estimates, and risk management for data-related initiatives.

His most recent project contributions:

  • Secure Compute Environment Testbed (SCET): Syed manages the development and deployment of a computing environment with the goal of achieving FedRAMP authorization status. The platform offers the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES) a cloud-based environment on NORC’s secure data infrastructure designed for the research community.
  • Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC): Syed managed a team of programmers in developing the EDW, a centralized data repository system in the NORC Data Enclave®. In addition, Syed helped develop a complex methodology to produce Public Use File (PUF) for releasing deidentified employment data through the EEOC website. He also worked with stakeholders to create the EEOC’s first-ever interactive data visualization tool, EEOC Explore.
  • American Psychiatric Association (APA) Virtual Data Enclave (VDE): Syed manages the VDE project, which involves hosting sensitive data in a tailored, collaborative environment for APA researchers to perform data analyses.
  • Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS): Since 2022, Syed has served as the senior IT project manager supporting the NORCSuite Applications, a suite of proprietary software for large-scale data collection initiatives, including the MCBS, a comprehensive longitudinal survey on the Medicare population.
