Katherine Gelfand

Research Scientist
Katherine is a mixed-methods researcher focused on delivering actionable insights that inform public health programs and policy.

Katherine brings seven years of experience designing evaluations, developing surveys and qualitative data collection tools, and synthesizing data for technical and non-technical audiences. Her areas of expertise include public health infrastructure, disaster preparedness, maternal health, and well-being.

Katherine currently manages NORC’s efforts supporting the Public Health Infrastructure Grant Evaluation, coordinating with evaluation partners and contributing to data collection and analysis. She also serves as project manager for the American Red Cross Home Fire-Preparedness Evaluations where she designs and fields an annual survey and develops products to communicate the program’s impact to key partners. Additional contributions include developing an evaluation plan for the Centers for Disease Control’s Enhancing Reviews and Surveillance to Eliminate Maternal Mortality initiative as well as supporting the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion’s Healthy People 2030 initiative by researching well-being measures and frameworks, among other topics.
