Caitlin Carroll Oppenheimer has been appointed senior vice president of the Public Health department at the independent research institution, NORC at the University of Chicago.

“Caitlin Oppenheimer emerged as the clear choice to lead NORC’s Public Health department,” said Michael Davern, executive vice president of research, who explains that the decision followed an exhaustive national search. “We engaged a leading executive search firm that connected us with a group of very experienced candidates from across the country. While we found all of the candidates extremely qualified, Caitlin’s talent and experience impressed the committee,” said Davern. “She has been a major contributor to the development of a portfolio of work that has established the robust Public Health department that exists today, and she is a valuable participant in key corporate initiatives and strategic projects benefitting the entire organization.

”Oppenheimer has over 22 years of experience in public health research and health policy and has been with NORC since 2001. For the past four years, Oppenheimer has served as vice president and associate director of the Public Health department, with oversight responsibility for staff members, projects, and revenue. She is an established health services researcher, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and dozens of internal reports for federal clients.

“I am honored to have been chosen to direct our Public Health work here at NORC, and I’m ready to meet the opportunities and challenges head on,” said Oppenheimer. “I am looking forward to working even more closely with our staff to move forward and reach the goals we’ve set together as a team. I am deeply committed to working with my colleagues in the department and throughout NORC to provide public health decision-makers with the high-quality data and analyses they need to help them address a myriad of ongoing and emerging challenges.”

“Caitlin Oppenheimer has been an invaluable member of the NORC senior management team for quite some time now,” said Daniel S. Gaylin, president and CEO of NORC at the University of Chicago. “I’ve had the privilege of working with her throughout much of her career in public health and have every confidence that her depth of experience and clear vision for the future of her department and NORC will help our organization continue to innovate, grow, and thrive.”

Prior to joining NORC, Oppenheimer worked as a senior associate at the consulting firm, the Lewin Group. Earlier she was a health policy analyst at the Partnership for Prevention, a research associate at the University of Michigan, and a research analyst at the Urban Institute. She is a graduate of Simmons College, Boston, MA, and holds an MPH with a focus in health management and policy from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan.
