The Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet of the Goverment of Egypt (IDCS) invited NORC to conduct a workshop in early 2011 on the management of think tanks and research projects. IDSC had established itself as a central player in the Gulf region think tank community and was a natural host for such an event. Think tanks in the region generally perceive that they could be more efficient and effective in their operations. NORC conducted sessions on think tank organization, management, analysis plans, research quality control, and communication. Sessions also touched on survey research topics including study and questionnaire design, field staff training, data entry and quality assurance, and field staff management. The workshop was conducted over five days in Cairo, Egypt. Some 71 participants from the region participated, including a large contingent from Saudi Arabia.
