The purpose of the 2012 Network for a Healthy California Benchmark Survey is to assess the ongoing effectiveness of select advertising and non-advertising communications that comprise the Network's Champions for Change campaign. The campaign promotes healthy food consumption and access among low-income mothers.
We will collect data from 1,000 women in each of two study populations: (1) CalFresh recipients who are female guardians/mothers aged 18-54 who are also mothers of children aged 0-17, and, (2) Female guardians/mothers of the same age with children aged 0-17 who are not CalFresh recipients but who are eligible for the program.
The mode of data collection for this work is relatively new for the Public Health department. We will be collecting data from CalFresh recipients via mall intercept interviews. The second study population will be completed via telephone and will be available in English and Spanish.
This work represents the ninth round of data collection for this survey. NORC has worked with the client to conduct analyses across the existing years of data collection and will likely expand on that analysis with the current data collection.
