State of the Cities Baseline Survey in Kenya

This World Bank funded project involved producing reliable estimates of key indicators related to demographic and economic profiles, and infrastructure access for 15 Kenyan cities based on representative samples of households residing in slum and non-slum areas. Descriptive analysis from the data collection estimate, among other things, the proportion of households living below the poverty line, and the proportion of households with access to infrastructure services such as piped water, electricity, toilet facilities. Information gained from this data gathering and analysis is designed to allow stakeholders to design interventions that promote good governance and improve service delivery throughout Kenya. Quantitative data collection was administered through a tablet survey among 14,600 households.
