​NORC staff are skilled in many statistical analysis techniques including analysis of variance, linear and logistic regression analysis, hierarchical linear models, tests of hypotheses, analysis of complex survey data, variance estimation, cluster analysis, principal components, multivariable analysis, longitudinal analysis, time series, econometrics, biostatistics, meta-analysis, small area estimation, psychometrics, item response theoretic methods, and neural networks.

Representative Projects

Census PVS Assessment. As part of the Person Identification Validation System Assessment engagement with the Census Bureau, NORC has conducted a review of the Census Bureau’s record linkage methods associated with the PVS, as well as an environmental scan of record linkage methods used by other government agencies—both within and outside of the U.S.—and private enterprises.  More

Effects of Insurance Market Reforms. This project for the Assistant Secretary for Policy and Evaluation (ASPE) in the Department of Health and Human Services aims to document the effect on premiums of the 2010 insurance market reforms required by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). More

Survey of Doctorate Recipients. NORC conducts the Survey of Doctorate Recipients (SDR) for the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The SDR is a survey of 40,000 science and engineering doctorate recipients who earned their degrees from institutions within the United States.  More

The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office): Developing a Brief Community Policing Self-Assessment Tool. This project will produce a brief self-assessment community policing instrument for police departments to evaluate their implementation of community policing.  This tool will facilitate internal planning, and inform training and management initiatives toward the full adoption of community policing. More
