Applied Statistical Analysis

​NORC statistical experts are skilled in the full range of statistical techniques for analyzing data, including exploratory data analysis; descriptive statistics, comparative analysis of subgroups, and multivariate analysis; other forms of modeling, including survival analysis and hierarchical linear modeling; and weighting, imputation, and other techniques for producing robust, unbiased statistical results.  NORC has extensive experience conducting a wide variety of quantitative analyses using numerous databases.  The NORC team also has substantial experience linking administrative data with primary and secondary data from a variety of sources.

Representative Projects

Analysis of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Disparities in the Appalachian Region and Access to Treatment Services. ​​A collaboration between NORC’s Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis and its Substance Abuse, Mental Health, and Criminal Justice Studies departments this study was conducted for the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to assess substance abuse and mental health disparities, and access to treatment services, within the Appalachian region. More

National Profile of Tribal Public Health Agencies. ​With funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and in partnership with the National Indian Health Board (NIHB), NORC is developing a national profile of tribal public health agencies.  More

Outpatient Payment Policy Under Medicare: Recent Policy Developments from the Rural Perspective. ​This study was designed to examine outpatient payment options for rural hospitals, the advantages and disadvantages of each, and their potential impact on hospital revenue and rural access to health services.  More
