Edward Mulrow Named New Vice President of Statistics and Methodology at NORC at the University of Chicago

​08/19/2015, Chicago, IL.– Edward Mulrow has been appointed vice president of Statistics and Methodology at the independent research institution, NORC at the University of Chicago.

“Ed has been a valuable and productive leader on a number of projects during his time at NORC, and is advancing NORC capabilities and recognition in the areas of data visualization and big data analytics,” said Ken Copeland, senior vice president of statistics and methodology. “Throughout his career with NORC, he has been a mentor to many of the department’s junior staff, as well as a trusted consultant to many senior researchers across NORC and to many clients.”

Mulrow has over 25 years of statistical consulting experience and has been with NORC since 2007. Most recently, Mulrow has served as associate director of the statistics and methodology department, leading the department’s efforts on big data analytics, data visualization, and high performance computing. His work has helped increase the department’s capabilities and applications in these areas and he has served as the department contact point with other departments on these efforts.

“I am honored to have been chosen for the position, and I’m looking forward to taking an even more active role in our department and our organization,” said Mulrow. “We have an extraordinarily talented team in the statistics and methodology department, and I’m excited to continue my work to help us grow our capabilities in the areas of data visualization and big data.”

Prior to joining NORC Mulrow was a Director in the National Economic Consulting Group, Washington National Tax Services office, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and prior to that was a Senior Manager in the Quantitative Economics and Statistics Group at Ernst & Young LLP. He is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and holds an MS in mathematics from the University of Utah and a Ph.D. in statistics from Colorado State University.
