Shaw Taylor Co-edits Volume on African and Caribbean Immigrants

August 17, 2007 --NORC research scientist Yoku Shaw Taylor is the co-editor of a volume, just published by Rowman & Littlefied, entitled "The Other African Americans: Contemporary African and Caribbean Immigrants in the US." The book is co-edited with Steven Tuch, a professor of sociology at the George Washington Unversity. The book seeks to broaden our understanding of these groups by exploring the changing intraracial dynamics among African Americans as new immigrants settle in the US and become Americans. This edited volume of original research provides historical and contemporary information on African and Caribbean individuals and families, addressing particular topical areas covering the most salient issues facing these immigrants today.
The textbook presents data from the New Immigrants Study, a project for which NORC collected survey data.
A book signing is planned for September at the George Washington University.
