International Social Survey Program

Since 1985, the GSS has participated in the International Social Survey Program (ISSP). The ISSP involves social scientists from 43 countries and is still expanding. Each year, sections of the GSS are devoted to ISSP questions that are asked in nations around the world. The ISSP is the only vehicle by which the trends of nations can be compared.

The National Congregations Study

The NCS was a hypernetwork sample of religious congregations based on the 1998 GSS. It documented the work, programs, and activities of America's religious congregations. This survey was conducted by NORC in collaboration with Professor Mark Chaves at the University of Arizona. The 2006 NCS is currently underway.
