Chris Kalb is a Senior Vice President in NORC’s Business Ventures and Innovation group and the managing director for NORC Labs. In this role Chris will lead innovation efforts, new product introduction, manage a portfolio of intellectual property and contribute to the overall business strategy for NORC. Chris received a B.S. in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and has spent over 15 years in product development and management with companies including Premier healthcare alliance, GE Healthcare, Xerox, and IDX Systems Corporation.
In his early career, Chris served in technical software development roles as a lead software engineer, developer, solutions architect, and technical product manager at Xerox, IDX and GE Healthcare. This provided technical knowledge benefitting Chris as he moved into product management and focused on business and product strategy. Since then Chris has run multiple product lines for GE Healthcare Global Engineering and ran the function of product management as director of Product Management on the initial leadership team for the eHealth business startup within GE Healthcare (now spun off in partnership with Microsoft to form Caradigm). Chris also ran Premier Healthcare Alliance’s population health IT strategy as Director of Integrated Healthcare Delivery before going on to run Premier’s portfolio management and governance process across all lines of business and Premier’s “Foundation Portfolio” including data strategy, common capabilities and security investments, user experience, and documentation functions.
Most recently before coming to NORC Chris served as Product Portfolio Manager for 8 products across 2 portfolios focused on government modernization and business event analytics at EngagePoint Inc., a software and services company.
Through these experiences Chris has a rich history of strategic thinking and business leadership and has led innovation efforts and new product introduction throughout his career. Chris has a history of entrepreneurship and building new businesses within the walls of established, successful institutions. Chris’s role leading NORC Labs will be to continue this tradition and help steward a new generation of business and product innovations at NORC.
